Interior design consultation for a kitchen with neutral colours in Camden Town, north London

Designing your own home can be a rewarding project. You know how you want it to feel, and you have ideas of your own. A consultation brings a designer’s eye to the decisions that matter, so each choice works with the proportion and light of your rooms, and with the choices around it.

It’s advice at exactly the moment you need it, without the commitment of a full design engagement.

Past clients have booked when:

  • Part of their kitchen had been ordered, but the tiles, splashback and how to lay them were still under discussion

  • Uneven light complicated their paint choices

  • Their rooms felt dark and cramped, even though the paint was light

  • They wanted to bring life to a bland room, but weren’t sure about fabric patterns or paint colours

  • They recognised that their scheme lacked cohesion, and time was running out

  • They couldn’t decide on particular pieces of furniture, or how to arrange them in an open-plan space

Whatever brings you to it, the aim is the same: to give you confidence that what you’re designing will work for you and in your building.

What to expect

A consultation addresses a focused question or set of questions. You’ll leave with clear recommendations, in person or in writing, and a firm sense of direction. You’re then free to carry them out with your own builders and suppliers.

If you’d like more support, I also offer space planning, kitchen and bathroom design, and my full design service. I can also shape a service around what you need.

Fees and format

A consultation costs £300 for two hours, with no VAT. Any further time is charged in 15-minute increments, and you can buy additional hours for ongoing advice over the life of your project.

I can generally visit homes in zones 1 and 2, and work by video call anywhere else. If you’re further out and would like me to visit, please ask.

Payment is due in advance to hold the time in my diary, and travel is charged on top for visits. If you need to move or cancel, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice. Later cancellations are charged at half the fee.
